Our New Friend

We came home last Thursday to a new friend in our backyard.  She was actually dropping off her next of kin in our backyard but we enjoyed her while she stayed.  We quickly googled how to care for Box Turtle eggs.
The girls were told to keep far away from her while she did her business so we didn't upset her.  This took all the restraint from Elizabeth and Anna Kate that was possible.  Anna Kate wants to touch it so bad!!!

Even Elizabeth wants to get up on it while it covers the eggs.

So we found two important pieces of information with the eggs.  1) cover them with something that will keep out the racoons or other animals that might try to dig them up and eat them.  2) Those may not actually have babies in them. Turtles, like hens, lay eggs even if a daddy turtle wasn't around to fertilize them.  So Lew put the dog cage over the egg area and we set our clocks for June 2 to check on them approximately 70 days from now.

Before it went over the eggs Elizabeth found a better use of the cage...too bad there wasn't a bottom on it.

The girls were excited to get St. Patricks Day and Easter presents from Aunt Cindy, Uncle Jim and Aunt Jan.
I have to say the bunny glasses were a big hit!!

Thanks for the treats!!  We love you!

The F word. Part II

The Fence is coming along nicely. The whole back is completely 4x4 and 2x4. Now comes the fun part, the panels! Today, I wanted to get the first 4 sections complete and I estimated it would take 66 pieces - and I was off by one. :).

Just to make sure everyone participates with the fence, I got Liz into it by filling in holes around the posts.

PS:
This weekend Anna Kate slept over at a friend's house. The little one is growing up too fast....

That is a woman!

"That's a woman!". Seems to be AnnaKate's favorite line leading up to seeing The Lorax by Dr Seuss. Or as AK calls it "The Worax."

Because the girls have been good for the last several days and not sleeping in our bed! Erin and I treated them to a movie, a Tuesday night movie - that's the $5 night movie!

Both girls were great and actually watched the movie. Erin said this was one of the best cartoon movies she has seen. ( I hope that wasn't a knock against the movies I usually take her to...).

At the end of the movie was a great quote from The Lorax: "Unless someone like you...cares a whole awful lot...nothing is going to get better...It's not."

That's something to think about.
